Our Favorites

We have complied a list of some of our favorites! These tend to be places that we have firsthand experience with although the area has many offering to enjoy.

Things To Do

White Memorial Foundation White Memorial is a non profit which owns 4000 acres of land surrounding the lake with hiking trails, museums, campgrounds and many events. Nice place to spend a couple hours hiking and checking things out.

Stonybrook Golf Course Challenging 9 hole golf course located in Litchfield only a few miles from the lake.

R & B Sports WorldLocated in Winsted (about 20 min away) offering go carts, bumper cars & mini golf. Nice spot to bring the kids!

Action Wildlife All types of animals including zebra, water buffalo, bison, elk, emu and more. I believe they have a petting zoo as well. Set up outside on a large piece of property to walk around.

Sportsmens Paddle board or kayak up the Bantam River and see the Beavers and other wildlife (we can point out the river if your on the boat with us). Sportsmens offers kayak, canoe, paddleboard & snowshoe rentals as well for the winter months.

Mohawk Mountain Ski Area Located in Cornwall (about 20 min from Litchfield), Mohawk is a great family Mountain that offers day and nighttime skiing and snowboarding. For beginners they offer private lessons and rentals which can be extremely helpful and make your experience that much better. I have also heard great things about their youth ski racing programs from many of our kids camp families although I believe it is quite competitive and I do not have first hand experience with the program.

Wood Acres Farm Wood Acres Farm in Terryville offers horse drawn sleigh & carriage rides both with and without snow. This seems like a fun idea for couples or families looking to try something different this winter in a small group setting! These are private tours by reservation only.

March Farm -Enjoy year-round fun from this local family-owned and operated farm in Bethlehem,CT. Get your pick of apples, peaches, berries, and more during their respective seasons, and check out their farm store for more delicious treats such as pies, muffins, and vegetables! March Farms also hosts activities such as outdoor concerts, exercise programs, weddings during the warmer months, and hayrides and mazes during the fall!

Haight Brown Winery – Looking for a date night idea? Spend your summer evenings sipping local wine at Connecticut’s oldest vineyard, located in Litchfield, CT. Haight Brown winery has recently gone under new ownership which has given way to new renovations and innovative wine-making processes!
